Settled comfortably amid fragrant pine trees and huge oak forests, the Gideon Putnam Resort combines 21st-century comfort with southern-style hospitality. The resort was named after the founder of Saratoga Springs, Gideon Putnam, who originally built the area’s first hotel during the early 1800s.  It is located next to the soothing mineral springs, which have been long revered by the Iroquois Native Americans for their natural healing powers.  The grand hotel made of brick and bearing Gideon Putnam’s name opened it's doors in 1935.  Shortly after opening, the hotel quickly became a favorite weekend-trip destination for affluent travelers from near and far.  In addition to the springs and spas, the legendary Saratoga Racetrack draws visitors every summer.

The hotel is scenically situated within the 2,300 picturesque acres of Saratoga Spa State Park, a National Historic Landmark District that also houses two historic bath houses, a theater and museum, a golf course, and the widely known Saratoga Performing Arts Center.  In addition to its secluded setting, the Gideon Putnam is just minutes away from downtown Saratoga, which is known for it's historic architecture, cultural institutions, and fine dining.

Accommodations

At Gideon Putnam Resort, we offer a wide range of different deluxe-style accommodations.  Our guest rooms are located throughout all five floors of the hotel, and some have beautiful views of Saratoga Spa State Park.

All guest rooms are non-smoking and offer private bathrooms, television with cable, air conditioning, AM/FM clock radios, telephones with voice mail, high speed Internet connections, iron/ironing boards, coffee makers, hairdryers, in-room safes, daily maid service, and a complimentary newspaper from the  front desk.

Standard Rooms
The Standard rooms offer all of our standard amenities and features a range of different bedding configurations.  Standard rooms are located throughout the entire hotel.

Deluxe Rooms
The Deluxe rooms offer slightly larger rooms with several different bedding configurations.  The Deluxe rooms are located throughout all five floors of the hotel, and all rooms have a stunning view of the park.

Putnam Suites
The Putnam Suite is a large two-room unit that includes a bedroom with 1 king bed, a spacious living and dining area, and two bathrooms.

Parlor Suites
The Parlor Suites are similar to the Putnam Suites, however, they are slightly smaller and contain one bathroom.  The Parlor Suite features an excellent view of the park, as well as a bedroom with 1 queen bed and an adjacent living area.

Executive Suites
The Gideon Putnam Resort Executive Suites contain one large bedroom with a king sized bed, in addition to a large sitting area and work space.  The Executive Suites are located on the 5th floor, which  is the top floor.

Porch Suites
The Porch Suite features a bedroom with a king sized bed with French doors opening to a private screened-in porch overlooking the park.  The Porch Suites are located on the first, second, and third floors.

Cancellation Policy:

Note: Children are considered 17 years of age and younger.

Deposit - All reservations require payment of the first night rate and tax as a deposit. Some packages and special events require full payment at the time you make your reservations. Daily rates do not include applicable state and county taxes for charges or for any other services.

Cancellations and Changes - We must receive requests regarding your non-holiday reservation at 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date (with the exception of Racing Season which will require a 7 day cancellation notice) for a refund of your deposit after that date. Cancellations or changes to your reservation requested less than three (3) days prior to your scheduled arrival result in forfeiture of your deposit. If you fail to arrive on the scheduled arrival date, your reservation will be canceled and you will not receive any refund or credit.

Special Requests - Special requests, when allowed in our sole discretion, are noted and maintained in the reservation system; however, we cannot guarantee any specific rooms or locations you request.

Reduction of Length of Stay - All reductions to a guest’s length of stay must be received 72 hours or more prior to arrival. If a reduction in room nights is made within 72 hours of arrival, the guest will be required to pay for the length of stay.

Non-Arrivals - All non-arrivalswill be charged the contracted rate for one night in which the room is not occupied by the individual.

Early Departures and/or Late Arrivals  - Early Departures and/or Late Arrivals will be charged the contracted nightly rate for each night the reserved room is not occupied by the individual, up to and including the entire length of stay.
