Founded by Virginia C. Barnes in 1946, Montecito Lodge is open 365 days a year, and is located on a spacious 42 acres at 7,500 feet elevation on the shores of Lake Homavalo. The lodge was rated as one of the top ten family resorts in the country by Travel Smart Newsletter, and one of the best family camp resorts in the country by “Good Morning, America”. Montecito offers families and groups an ‘all-inclusive’ experience in a friendly, low-key environment.
Montecito offers 35 guided program activities in the summer and 20 in winter. From tots to seniors all of Montecito's activities are focused on fun, while rekindling a ‘love for learning’ with guided hikes by local naturalists, an astronomy program, seven different horse riding programs in the summer, and an adventurous cross country ski resort in the winter. With ‘free choice’ activities, parents are welcome to join in with the kids while they ride horses, swim, snowboard or learn about the forest habitat. You might also be interested in learning to rock climb, getting a massage, relaxing in the hot tub and warming up by the fireplace after a day of skiing. Guests often remark how they ‘completely forget their cares and worries’ when they visit Montecito Sequoia Lodge.
The Montecito Lodging Complex offers 52 lodging rooms as well as several cabins which cater to the needs of families. The spacious rooms sleep anywhere from 2 to 8 people.
Montecito takes pride is in her educational activities, but they are remembered for their friendly staff & delicious buffet meals.
The Magic of Montecito-Sequoia begins with the friendliness of the staff at Sequoia Lodge! You’ll find a unique brand of homespun hospitality in one of the West’s most spectacular mountain areas. Everything you want is in one place.

Montecito's guests enjoy relaxing around the two huge stone fireplaces and sink-in leather furniture. Relax by the fire with a good book, or socialize with other guests by the bar. The adjacent Ponderosa Room houses ping pong tables, a full-service cocktail bar and satellite television. Make yourself at home during your stay, and enjoy the “at home” amenities.
The Pine Box Bar offers a complete selection of beer, fine wines, cocktails, and after dinner drinks, along with festive non-alcoholic drinks. Some of our most popular drinks are “smoothies” for the kids, along with special fancy drinks for holidays and theme nights. Join the pre-dinner social hour for hors d’oeuvres and informal conversation with fellow skiers. A representative of our ski department is on hand to answer questions and help you plan your stay and customize your next day’s activities. We also have cross country ski videos here for you to brush up on your technique.
