O'Donnell House

O'Donnell House

Perched on a mountain overlooking Palm Springs and the California desert, Ojo Del Desierto, literally the eye of the desert, is the O'Donnell House. Designed by architect Charles Tanner, it was built in 1925 for wealthy oil magnate Thomas O'Donnell by Nellie Coffman, founder of Palm Springs and owner of the world-famous Desert Inn.

Experience a sense of adventure and unreality climbing the rock-faced road to reach the intricately wrought iron gates in which the words "Ojo Del Desierto" are silhouetted against the sky, announcing the house and its spectacular view. Settled into its sheer mountain site, the expansive terrace seems to float above the desert floor.

Meticulously restored by The Willows Historic Palm Springs Inn, and situated on the mountain above, the O'Donnell House and grounds feature original and rare-tile floors and bathrooms, redwood ceilings, antique furniture, unique gardens, impressive rock work and exquisite views of the desert below.

The O' Donnell House is available as a conference site and special venue for corporate meetings, weddings and family gatherings. Unrivaled exclusivity in an historic setting affords the ultimate in privacy.
