The El Portal Motel is located in the small Nevada town of Beatty just eight miles from Death Valley National Park.
Several ghost towns in the area let you take a glance into the past when they were bustling with mining activity. Bailey's Hot Mineral Spring, a ten minute drive north of town, is a restful and therapeutic experience well worth the drive. The famous Death Valley National Park is only 8 miles west of town. These and other places make Beatty a perfect place to come and relax.
The El Portal Motel is a family style 25-unit motel. Of the 25 rooms, nineteen are modern and spacious with one or two queen size beds. The other six are from another time. They were built in the forties when auto courts were the newest accommodations for the weary traveler. They retain the flavor of that period and are very much a part of Beatty's history. They have standard double beds. Smoke-free rooms are available but are snapped up quickly. All of the rooms are carpeted, roomy, and comfortable. Each room has its own bathroom with bathtub/shower facilities.
Rates are a reasonable $30 for one person, $35 for two, and up. El Portal has two rooms that have three beds, with cost between $40 and $45 depending upon the number of guests. Pets are allowed for an additional $5 and senior citizens get a 10% discount.
