Lake Powell Hikes

Filed under: Lake Powell — National Park Reservations @ 3:42 pm

Lake Powell offers a wide open playground for both those who want to play in the water and those who want to wander a bit on dry land.

Rainbow Bridge is the largest natural rock bridge in the world. The hike can be done as an overnighter by experienced hikers while beginners will want three or four days to cover the broken terrain. Most visitors travel to the bridge by boat on Lake Powell. But if you’re up for an adventure you’ll hike there. Along the way you will experience spectacular canyon country.

For Lake Powell Lodging you can choose between land-based hotels or water-based houseboats!  Check out Defiance House Lodge, located at Bullfrog Marina at the heart of all your uplake activities and adventures. Defiance House Lodge accommodates you with comfortable lodging, terrific dining and fun shopping.

Olympic National Park Highlights

Filed under: Uncategorized — National Park Reservations @ 1:25 pm

Olympic National Park has one million acres and three distinct ecosystems. This space and diversity makes for a very full and fun vacation for visitors to the park.

Some Olympic highlights you should plan on fitting into your visit are Hurricane Ridge for a taste of the park’s high country and mountain vistas. From there its a three-hour drive to the west to the Hoh Rain Forest, where over 12 feet of rain per year creates a stunning world of huge trees and profuse greenery. Views of the Pacific Coast and Olympic’s wilderness beaches can be seen just 30-40 minute by car to Rialto or Ruby Beach.

Keep in mind that the best way to see Olympic or any national park is by getting out of your car. Here short (one-quarter to one-half mile) nature trails are located at Hurricane Ridge (spring through fall only), Elwha, Sol Duc, the Hoh Rain Forest and Quinault.

For more information on what you can do at Olympic National Park and for lodging reservations log onto www.nationalparkreservations.com/olympic.htm. Make your reservations early for the best selection.
