Lake Powell Fantastic Sights
There are many sites that make Lake Powell desirable place to vacation! Rent a houseboat or take a cruise to these unforgetable sights.
Padre Bay- Not too far from the Wahweap Marina and oozing scenery, Padre Bay is the perfect destination for first-time visitors. Features to look for include Gunsight Butte and the Cookie Jar. This is a great area for hikers and photographers.
West Canyon- This is one of the lake’s most beautiful canyons. With the upper end of the canyon featuring high sandstone walls 20 feet apart and 1,000 feet high juxaposed with the blue lake water this is a truely magnificient sight.
Cathedral Canyon- This narrow, labyrinthine canyon is a thrilling ride. Sandstone walls, so close together in places they scrape your boat as you pass through, tower hundreds of feet overhead, while shafts of sunlight reflect off canyon walls and illuminate the green water. Cathedral Canyon is easily navigable so it’s safe for novices to do.
Rainbow Bridge- Rainbow is the largest natural bridge in the world and is the single most popular destination on the lake. The stunning orange-rock arch soars nearly 300 feet, higher than the dome of the U.S. Capitol. Before the lake was created, the only way to reach the bridge was via a long, hard hike. When the lake is full, visitors can boat nearly all of the way to the national monument, with just limited hiking.
