Winter in Glacier National Park

Filed under: Uncategorized — National Park Reservations @ 3:37 pm

Snow sports provide an excellent way to enjoy Glacier National Park in winter. Ski trails and routes provide a range of scenery, terrain, and difficulty. Here you can cross-country ski and snowshoe to get the full advantage of the pristine scenery found in this unique park.

Popular trails in the park are:

Lower McDonald Creek 2-3 miles round trip
Rocky Point 6 miles round trip
Apgar Lookout 10.5 miles round trip
Old Flathead Ranger Station 10 miles round trip
McGee Meadow Loop 11.5 miles round trip
Going-to-the-Sun Road
McDonald Falls 4 miles round trip
Sacred Dancing Cascade 5.3 miles round trip
Avalanche Picnic Area 11.6 miles round trip

Although many lodges inside Glacier are closed in the winter there are some that are open. Izaak Walton Inn, Glacier Haven Inn and Stanton Creek Lodge are all fabulous options for in-park winter lodging.

Because Whitefish, a resort town, is just miles from Glacier National Park many people opt to stay in some of the great lodging offered there or along the highway between the two.  Check our website at www.nationalparkreservations.com/glacier.htm for more information on winter lodging in and near Glacier National Park.
