I’ve decided that with fall in the air it’s the perfect time to make a list of national parks with spectactular autumn colors.  Autumn brings is more relaxed time of year where hiking becomes a calming activity, the sun sets earlier leading to quiety evening spent in your most comfortable chair reading a good book, and the aroma’s of a variety of comfort foods fill the air.

The following are national parks that are open and accessible to touring in the fall months.  This is a great opportunity to visit when the population goes down and vibrant colors flood the scenery.  So bring a camera and enjoy!
Acadia National Park: This park is home to many plants and animals, and the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic coast. Visitors here enjoy hiking granite peaks, biking historic carriage roads, or relaxing to enjoy the scenery.

Glacier National Park: Acres of pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains, and spectacular lakes define this national park.  In the fall red, yellow, orange hues sweep across the valleys and mountain sides to create a pallet that delights the senses.

Shenandoah National Park: Perhaps best known for its magnificent fall show, visitors here hike in the shade of oak trees along the Appalachian Trail, discover the stories from Shenandoah’s past, or just relax in the wonder of wilderness.
