Yosemite From Horseback

At National Park Reservations we are always on the look out for changes in our national parks and activities to tell our guests about. I think that perhaps one of the most overlooked activities, and one that is available in most national parks, is horseback riding. Happily I come across riding options a couple of times a week and am able to recommend this activity often.
Just today I read an article in the Western Horseman that describes the sheer joy of horseback riding through Yosemite National Park. In “Yosemite, Jewel of the Sierras: California’s Yosemite National Park offers unparalleled scenery and seemingly endless riding options for horseback explorers” http://www.westernhorseman.com/stories/06012007/tra_20070601002.shtml) writer Holly Endersby describes the amazing scenery that is indelibly Yosemite from hoseback. Â
One of the major advantages to horseback riding through national parks is that you are able to access many places that are closed to vehicles and are perhaps a bit farther than you care to hike to. This gives you views that are more virgin to the eye than some of the more populated areas.Â
The next time you make national park plans check out horseback riding options. You’ll find that many times you can get in on a guided riding tour or even take your own tour and enjoy the solitude that is afforded by exploring the park on your own.  Â
