Olympic National Park Highlights

Filed under: Uncategorized — National Park Reservations @ 1:25 pm

Olympic National Park has one million acres and three distinct ecosystems. This space and diversity makes for a very full and fun vacation for visitors to the park.

Some Olympic highlights you should plan on fitting into your visit are Hurricane Ridge for a taste of the park’s high country and mountain vistas. From there its a three-hour drive to the west to the Hoh Rain Forest, where over 12 feet of rain per year creates a stunning world of huge trees and profuse greenery. Views of the Pacific Coast and Olympic’s wilderness beaches can be seen just 30-40 minute by car to Rialto or Ruby Beach.

Keep in mind that the best way to see Olympic or any national park is by getting out of your car. Here short (one-quarter to one-half mile) nature trails are located at Hurricane Ridge (spring through fall only), Elwha, Sol Duc, the Hoh Rain Forest and Quinault.

For more information on what you can do at Olympic National Park and for lodging reservations log onto www.nationalparkreservations.com/olympic.htm. Make your reservations early for the best selection.

Big Bend Bear Miracle

Filed under: Uncategorized — National Park Reservations @ 3:24 pm

One day in the 1980s, a black bear from the Sierra del Carmen in Northern Mexico started a journey. She descended from the mountains, walked through miles of desert, swam across the Rio Grande, and traversed more desert to reach the forested slopes of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. She may have led offspring to the Chisos, and probably encountered a wandering male already using the park’s mountain range. How they came and why they came, we may never know. But the return of bears to the park is a remarkable event. It is a success story, and a story of hope for the future.

You too can visit Big Bend National Park. Just log on to http://www.nationalparkreservations.com/bigbend.htm or call National Park Reservations toll free 1-866-875-8456 to make your reservations today!

Yellowstone Volcano

Filed under: Uncategorized — National Park Reservations @ 2:27 pm

Lying underneath  Yellowstone Park is one of the largest “super volcanoes” in the world. A supervolcano or super volcanic eruption is a volcanic eruption which is orders of magnitude greater than any volcano in historic times, sufficient to cause long-lasting change to weather, threaten the extinction of species, and cover huge areas with lava and ash.

Each year, millions of visitors come to Yellowstone to admire the hot springs and geysers of Yellowstone, of the park. Few are aware that these wonders are fueled by heat from a large reservoir of partially molten rock (magma), just a few miles beneath their feet. As this magma-which drives one of the world’s largest volcanic systems-rises, it pushes up the Earth’s crust beneath the Yellowstone Plateau.

There is no immedate “danger” to the Yellowstone volcano but the area is special and the unique environment is protected so that we and visitors through out coming generations can enjoy the sites formed by this geologic feature.

Contact National Park Reservations today for lodging at Yellowstone National Park.
