Moraine Lake Lodge

Moraine Lake Lodge is situated in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The Arthur Erickson designed lodge is a post-and-beam log structure graced with grand windows providing breathtaking vistas of the snow-capped mountains and glacier-fed lake. An altitude of 6,300 feet puts you in the very heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Guests are steeped in a natural setting that offers canoeing, hiking, nature-watching, climbing and photography. Dining ranges from high-country elegant to Rocky Mountain casual.

Moraine Lake Lodge combines luxury with the rugged grandeur inspired by the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Nestled in the trees on the edge of Moraine Lake in Banff National Park near Lake Louise, Alberta, Moraine Lake Lodge is central to the many outdoor recreation opportunities in Banff National Park.

Numerous glaciers, lakes and majestic mountains combine to make the Moraine Lake and Lake Louise area one of the most photographed and visited locations in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Its iridescent turquoise colors have earned Moraine Lake the designation, "Jewel of the Rockies," and its intoxicating beauty entices guests to return time and time again.

Located 15 minutes from the Village of Lake Louise, the 33 rooms at Moraine Lake Lodge offer a true mountain get-away. We practice high levels of environmental stewardship and are leaders in heritage tourism. Nightly naturalist presentations in our library help educate our guests on the unique history and wildlife in Banff National Park. We generate our own power and filter and treat our own glacier fed water. We are not a large hotel that offers a pool, hot tub, laundry services or workout facility as they do not coincide with our surroundings or vision. We do our best to preserve the simple wonders of our environment.

In keeping with our mountain get-away experience, we do not offer telephones or televisions in any of our rooms. For our guests who must keep in contact with the outside world, there is a guest phone and internet access in the lobby area.

Like Lake Louise, Moraine Lake is visited by thousands of guests, but by sundown the area is exclusive to our 70 guests per night!

Moraine Lake Lodge is the perfect base for your Canadian Rockies experience.

Moraine Lake Lodge is open every day from June 1 to September 30 - the peak of the summer in the Canadian Rockies.

The temperatures are what you might expect at 6,300 feet, ranging from evening lows in the 50s F (10-14C) to daytime highs in the mid-70s F (20-23C). It is not uncommon to have a mirror-like glaze on the lake in the morning and a soothing, warm breeze in the late afternoon.

Mid-September sees the larch trees (at the 7,500-foot level) turn a beautiful golden hue. Combined with brisk mountain air and the natural beauty of the lake and forests, this is truly the most spectacular time of the year.
